"I was certified from 1996-1998 at the Basic level. It isn't showing on the verification page."
"I was certified a long time ago and need documentation (or the old certificate) to show my new employer."
"I am reaching out to verify a certification for a job candidate who says he was previously certified a long time ago. Can you verify he was certified at one point?"
These are questions we occasionally get from previously certified technicians and specialists who are not currently certified but are attempting to use their previous accomplishments as current proof of capabilities or value to a new employer, or to pad a résumé in seeking new employment.
As a policy, we DO NOT verify or provide documents, including dates or certificates, for non-current certifications. You must have a current certification for our team to verify to you or a third-party that you hold a certification.
We do not confirm or provide proof or documentation on expired certifications because they are invalid - upon expiration, the member does not meet the criteria to be actively certified and cannot benefit from previous certifications that have lapsed or no longer exist.
Active-certification-only verification is done to protect and benefit technicians and specialists that are actively staying on the cutting edge of technology, tuned in to the latest safety, installation, and testing standards, and are actively trying to grow their skills and maintain a level of professionalism.
